About JobStep Safety
JobStep Safety helps small US construction crews plan work safely: free toolbox talks, job hazard analysis guides and forms, and two paid products for people who want it done for them.
Where our content comes from
Every page is written from primary sources: the OSHA regulations in 29 CFR (mostly Part 1926 for construction), OSHA publications, fact sheets and eTools, and other federal agencies where they apply. We save a copy of every source we cite, and each page lists its sources at the end with a link to the original.
How we check it
- Quotes are checked word for word against our saved copy of the source before a page can be published.
- Numbers must come from a source. A height, distance, depth or time limit that we cannot point to in a source does not go on the page.
- Scope is labeled. We say when a rule is a construction rule (29 CFR 1926) and when it is a general industry rule (29 CFR 1910), because they differ.
- Pages are dated, and we update them when a source changes.
We do not claim our content has been approved by OSHA or reviewed by any certified professional. It is general safety information, not legal advice.
How a Custom JHA is made
You give us the task, the steps your crew will follow and a few answers about the job. An AI model drafts the hazards and controls for each of your steps. Software then checks the draft: it removes anything that states a rule, a number or a fact you did not give us, and it never adds, removes or renames your steps. The federal OSHA rules listed for each step come from a table we have checked against the regulation text, not from the AI. Anything we do not know about your site becomes a highlighted line for you to fill in.
